Product Info: Ceramics
All ceramics are handmade by Laura Holmes McCarthy from reduction-fired stoneware.
Please note, because of the handmade nature of these items, items like mugs or bowls may vary slightly in size or appearance from those pictured. All items with numbered names (ie "Hilma Vase 001") however are one-of-a-kind and will correspond exactly with the item pictured.
Likewise, with handmade items come imperfections. Items with more severe damage (ie exterior bottom cracks) are marked as "seconds" and prices are marked down to reflect these issues. All seconds are functional, water-tight, and safe for everyday use unless otherwise noted. Some potters destroy items like these as a means of quality control. I do not ascribe to this practice, both from the perspective that these pieces still have value, beauty, and functionality, and in an effort to reduce unnecessary waste.
Ceramics Care
All pieces intended for food or beverage use food-safe glazes and are top-rack dishwasher-safe unless otherwise noted. Please note, some items may have unfinished stoneware exteriors which will absorb water, or delicate textural magma-glazed exteriors which require hand wash. However, all are lined with food-safe glazes making them functional and safe for everyday use. Hand washing is recommended for vases, pitchers, and decorative items.
Product Info: Jewelry
All earrings are made from polymer clay and high-quality sterling silver or gold fill findings. The lightweight materials ensure even the biggest statement earrings are easy to wear. In the case of stud earrings, earring backs are both secured with adhesive and embedded in clay to protect against breakage and aid in longevity.
Jewelry Care
Please handle your earrings with care, removing earring backs gently. We recommend you do not submerge them.
Shipping
Our shipping department is the same as the marketing department is the same as the person making your ceramics and jewelry, AKA, Laura. I appreciate your understanding around shipping costs and timeframes.
Shipping Cost
In an effort to be transparent in my pricing, I do not offer free shipping. I would rather charge shipping than build it into the cost of each item, so that you can better understand the true cost of your item–and not get gouged for shipping if you order more than one thing.
Shipping is calculated based on the size and weight of your purchase. I do everything in my power to keep this economical but some items, in particular larger ceramic pieces, are costly to ship because of weight and the shipping materials required to keep your item safe in transit.
Shipping Time
I aim to ship everything within a week of you placing your order. I will do my best to communicate, either via the website or email, when I experience delays in my ability to ship your item in a timely manner.
For the estimated transit time of your item, please refer to the USPS website. USPS has recently increased the transit time for most parcels and shipping methods in anticipation of increased delays related to COVID-19.
Unfortunately, the delivery time once I've dropped off your package is beyond my control. With that in mind, I ship every package with tracking and insurance. If your order is a gift, I recommend allowing a minimum of two weeks from order date for delivery to be safe.
Shipping Destinations
At this time, orders placed through the shop are only available to ship in the United States.
I will consider international shipping on a case-by-case basis. If you are outside the United States and interested in purchasing something, please send a message via the Contact form to discuss options. This is a decision I've made as a result of the difficulty of international shipping due to COVID. I want to ensure each piece has the best chance of arriving safely and on time to its destination.
Shipping Methods
I ship all items via USPS and you will be provided with tracking information once your order has shipped.
Free local delivery is available for some shoppers in the Hudson Valley region. Please enter your address at checkout to see if you are eligible.
Returns + Exchanges
Due to the unique nature of my products and the size of my business (ie, me), I cannot offer returns or exchanges at this time. In the case of goods damaged in transit, I will open a claim with USPS to recuperate the cost of the damaged goods and your funds will be refunded. In the case of an item that is lost in transit and has not arrived within 30 days of mailing, the buyer is responsible for opening a claim with USPS.
